Synopsis:Amanda is established as a misanthrope, eager to use the time and resources she has to leave the people of New York City and find some peace inside a remote house, springing the vacation on Clay. She’s ready to achieve a little peace and quiet in her overloaded life, renting a mansion near the beach to help with rejuvenation efforts, noticing that things aren’t healthy in the household, as communication has broken down and obsessions, such as Rose’s fixation on finishing the T.V. show “Friends,” are on the rise, triggering a sudden break from routine. This movie captures a feel for domestic tensions, especially between Amanda and Clay, who’ve been icy to each other for years, stuck in routine, using the trip to work on communication needs and family time. Soon enough, things aren’t right with the world, with trouble introduced by the arrival of an oil tanker that smashes into a local beach, which should be a more panicky event, but Esmail looks to keep the endeavor disorienting as the foursome returns home to assess the situation.
