Synopsis: Eloise represents kindness and warmth for Adam, who lives a solitary life on the farm, focusing entirely on his beekeeping plans, and dealing carefully with the insects. Adam is fond of Eloise, who provides human contact he’s fond of, and the pair have dinner plans together before the unthinkable occurs. In “The Beekeeper,” call center predators exist in a room filled with computers and lit like a strip club, with Mickey acting as an M.C., making sure to keep the employees committed to a grand plan of fraud. It’s a very theatrical way of doing business, meant to show viewers just how corrupt these human beings are, especially Mickey, who’s quite brazen in his con, keeping Eloise distracted while the members of the United Data Group manage to steal millions in seconds. It’s a real-world issue handed cartoon representation in “The Beekeeper,” and Ayer doesn’t include a scene of Eloise processing the situation, cutting directly to her suicide, which puts Adam on the warpath at the 20-minute mark, offering no time for emotional ties to form.
