Synopsis: Gordon, a young American, follows a daily routine in New York City as he rides his bike to school and interacts with his teenage students. His goal is to ignite their interest in classic literature. Meanwhile, he visits his father, Peter, who is a writer of erotic novels and has a habit of taking pills. Peter tries to offer Gordon advice, but it may not always be helpful. On the other hand, Sophie, a talented chef, is content with her career but desires a new professional opportunity. She finds it when she meets Ruby, a successful chef who has built her empire. Sophie is presented with a chance to change her life. As the story progresses, Gordon, who is somewhat awkward, experiences a fish-out-of-water situation when he travels to Quebec for the first time. However, he has a fear of flying and ends up taking a mystery pill given to him by Peter, which turns out to be a quaalude.
