Synopsis: In 1956, World War II veteran and golf enthusiast JB was preparing to become superintendent of San Felipe High School in the border town of Del Rio, Texas. Hoping a respectable position would grant him membership to the prestigious local Del Rio Golf Club, JB was frustrated when the white men in charge refused him. After a chance encounter with five talented San Felipe students who loved golf but could only play on their own, JB had an idea. Calling on his war buddy and golf pro Frank for help, JB formed a golf team to challenge the establishment, bringing together Mexican-American teens Gene, Lupe, Felipe, and Mario. Though initially reluctant, Joe joined too. Facing racism from leaders and competitors, the teens honed their self-taught skills under Frank’s guidance as JB confronted his own feelings of rejection.
