Synopsis: Tommy’s break-up with Theresa isn’t the reason he’s fully depressed, but it’s his excuse for it, clinging to glory days with his love, who was a huge fan of Ellen DeGeneres. They dated for a long time, never graduating to marriage or parenthood, finding Theresa out to forge her path with a different partner, putting Tommy in a state of shock, which even inspires him to periodically walk to her door, but he never has the guts to knock. Tommy is in a dark place in “Self Reliance,” and this cloud is suddenly lifted by the arrival of Andy Samberg, who doesn’t seem like he wants to participate in a recruitment plan, but he’s forced to do so, sharing news of the game and identifying his bosses. Two old European men share the details of survival and constant monitoring, with “ninja” crew members planting cameras everywhere, offering Tommy a chance to decline the challenge, which could cost him his life.
