Synopsis: “Night Owls” is a talk show on television that is hosted by Jack. It first aired in 1971 and although it gained a following, it was not able to surpass Johnny Carson in terms of ratings. This led Jack to resort to sensationalism in order to attract more attention to his show. Despite facing personal challenges, such as the loss of his wife Madeline, Jack musters up the energy to put on an outrageous Halloween show in 1977, which coincides with sweeps week and puts pressure on him to do something extraordinary. He invites Christou, a psychic who is comfortable being on TV, to interact with the audience and soon realizes that there is an evil presence in the studio. Carmichael, a professional magician and skeptic, challenges these claims. Additionally, there is Dr. June, a parapsychologist promoting a book about the Devil, and Lilly, who was rescued from the Cult of Abraxas. Jack seizes the opportunity and encourages Dr. June to explore Lilly’s history of evil, unaware of what she will discover. The show begins after the introduction, with Jack delivering his well-rehearsed hosting routine, including a monologue inspired by Jimmy Carter.
