Synopsis: The new “Hellraiser” is appropriately gory, and Bruckner and colleagues at least conceptually grasp the central tenet of Barker’s argument that people’s insatiable needs ultimately harm everyone nearby. Jamie Clayton, who portrays the Hell Priest’s eerie calm, and unsettlingly alien carriage, has a terrific Pinhead appearance in the film. Most of the “Hellraiser” sequels look and feel better than this one, although it has a pro forma quality. With little feeling of shock or discovery, the plot plods through nightmare sequences of demonic dread and agony. Conceptually, the image makes sense.
