Synopsis: A startling amount of “Halloween Ends” is badly done, with clunkier editing, framing, and scripting than the other two films. It appears as though the team was hired to do this one as a contractual necessity and was trying to get through it as quickly as possible. More likely, Green and his team had a really ambitious film idea about the nature of evil and how terrified communities might breed violent loners. but they had to also produce a “Halloween” film. This movie is torn apart by the two ideas that conflict with one another. What starts out promising turns into a dud, as Green can’t even manage the art of a superb kill, eliminating certain victims here with astonishingly forgettable monotony—Only a DJ experiences a memorable demise. And we know it’s all heading to Laurie vs. Michael, which had so much potential but now has no more influence. The somewhat ambitious concept seems to be that evil may manifest in regular people, even a typical babysitter whose life has been destroyed by an accident, rather than only in notorious monsters like Michael Myers. Because it’s a movie, Allyson can’t see Corey’s full depravity and instead is more infatuated with the brooding lunatic. Corey ends up being essentially infected by Myers’ wickedness. It would be an understatement to say that Corey and Allyson’s love tale is underwritten and implausible. Simply put, it is poorly done in every manner.
