Storyline: Mud first then silence. God of Frogs 2026 opens like a threat and directors Adrian Bobb Ali Chappell and Richard Lee keep tightening the grip. A drowned man turns up near a blackwater marsh. Meanwhile locals shrug it off which feels dishonest. However the frogs don’t. They crowd fences windows even rooftops slick glistening wrong. However the film resists easy horror beats it creeps instead letting dread ferment. You hear it in the sound design wet clicks distant croaks something almost human buried underneath. Performances carry a rough edge. No polish just nerves fraying on screen. Moreover the cinematography leans into grime fog that clings water that reflects too much shadows that twitch when they shouldn’t. It’s ugly in a deliberate way. And effective. Some reviews have called it uneven and fair enough the middle stretch drags. Yet when the film lunges it lands hard. So what is this force? A curse? Nature snapping back? The film shrugs and moves closer. Ultimately it’s less about answers and more about pressure the kind that builds behind your eyes. That’s why it lingers. That’s why it unsettles. Among Moviesjoy movies this one doesn’t just whisper dread it breathes it.
