Synopsis: Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) aids with the birth of a Qilin in Bhutan in 1932. It is a mystical being with the ability to see into one’s soul as well as into the future. Gellert Grindelwald’s (Mads Mikkelsen) acolytes attack and kill the mother, and kidnap the child, led by Credence Barebone (Ezra Miller). Grindelwald subsequently kills the creature in order to exploit his foresight. Killin, unbeknownst to them, has given birth to twins, the younger of whom is capable of saving Newt. Due to a blood bargain, he is unable to combat Grindelwald. Albus Dumbledore (Jude Law) employed Newt, his brother Theseus Scamander (Callum Turner), Eulalie ‘Lally’ Hicks (Jessica Williams), Senegalese-French wizard Yusuf Kama (William Nadylam), and American No-Maj Jacob Kowalski (Dan Fogler). Yusuf has been identified as a spy within Grindelwald’s inner circle, while the rest of the gang has been relocated to Berlin, Germany. The gang saw Grindelwald being exonerated of all criminal charges by the International Confederation of Wizards (ICW) and subsequently campaigning for election in the Supreme Court while they were there. The ICW feels that capturing Grindelwald will increase his popularity while defeating him in a legal election will ruin his popularity.
