Synopsis: At the beginning of ALL QUIET ON THE WESTERN FRONT, young Paul Baumer (Felix Kammerer) is determined not to be left behind when all of his pals enlist in the military. He joins the military and forges his parents’ signature. Every one of the fresh young recruits is fired up and eager to fight for their nation. These men quickly come to understand the appalling living conditions for soldiers and the psychological damage that war causes just hours after departing with their troops. All of Paul’s friends also perish as thousands of men do. Nobody can genuinely be protected in the trenches and on the battlefields along the contested western front, but an older soldier named Kat (Albrecht Schuch) takes him under his wing.
