Synopsis: Elise returns to her building, finding it completely empty. As she navigates through the darkness, she hears strange noises and eventually comes face to face with the High Priestess, her tarot character. Unfortunately, the creature has no intention of sparing her life. This intense encounter serves as the opening scene of the screenplay. However, as the film progresses, it becomes evident that style plays a significant role. Cinematographer Elie Smolkin expertly uses lighting and shadows to enhance the limited fear factor in the movie. The sound design in “Tarot” is also exceptional, providing a powerful sense of violence as the characters are relentlessly pursued by the monsters. The tension escalates further in a subway station, and halfway through the film, Alma delivers an exposition dump that reveals crucial information about the deck’s history.
